2016 | SEVILLE
7.3 DEGREES NORTH, 5.9 DEGREES WEST
I had not been back to Spain since studying there in El Escorial for a summer during High School. I had forgotten the breathtaking green and beige pallet of the terrain between Madrid and Seville. Reliving that ride this past September, we arrived in Seville where we were greeted by Marco Hohenlohe who gave us a tour of his beautiful family home, Casa de Pilatos.
The array of mixed Spanish tiles set beneath the Mudejar style carvings was a juxtaposition we noticed both throughout the home and throughout the city; unusual and yet gracefully authentic to its history. I echoed those textures mixed throughout our Seville collection with crochet fully-fashioned knits and tile patterns recreated in chiffon and silk. xxNicole Hanley
